Scoring System (View WORD document summary of the following...)

  • TEAM Competition
  • Schools should enter as many children as possible into the races. A minimum of 3 runners are required to register a score as a 'complete team'.
  • Top 3 runners count for points for their school (e.g. 1st=1pt, 4th=4pts, 36th=36pts  Total=41pts)  Obviously, lower scores equal better performances. Schools then placed according to their points score.
  • Scoring 1st placed school then awarded 25pts for their overall league score, 2nd=23pts, 3rd=22pts, 4th=21pts, etc.
  • 'Incomplete Teams' (any school with just 1 or 2 runners) will score 1 point only for the team competition.
  • 'No runners' - any school without any runners will score 0pts.
  • Race 2 and 3 follow same scoring system with points added up in order to decide the final positions and awards.
  • Tie for positions - award will be decided, in order, by the following process: a.team with the most 1st places, b.team with the most 2nd places, c.team with the most 3rd places, etc.
  • Trophies:  1st-3rd in each overall category (12 trophies annually + 4 team shields for the winning schools to keep for one year)
  • INDIVIDUAL Competition
  • Points are awarded to individual runners relative to their finishing positions. 1st=25pts, 2nd=23pts, 3rd=22pts, 4th=21pts, etc.25th place and all remaining positions score 1 point.
  • Race 2 and 3 follow same scoring system with points added up in order to decide the final positions and awards.
  • Tie for positions - award will be decided, in order, by the following process: a.runner with the most 1st places, b.runner with the most 2nd places, c.runner with the most 3rd places, etc.
